Happy Summer from Blessed Are Those Who Mourn! 🌻
We're taking a break over the summer to rest, to play, to recover—and so should you.
Your girl is burned out and ready for a vacay! I head out the country for a few weeks today and I am looking forward to disconnecting, exploring, having fun and going on adventures with myself and my husband.
Therefore, I am proverbially shutting my laptop not only from work, but also from the work that’s required of me here in this community. I want this space to continue to pour out from my overflow, and not scarcity. In order for that to happen, I have to know when to say no, when it’s time to stop, and when it’s time to take a much needed break.
We have done so much together these past eight months—I can’t believe it’s only been eight months, but God has showed out! We as a community have had such deep, authentic and faithful conversations about what it looks like to walk with God daily in the midst of grief, in the midst of dark times and in the face of the unknown. I am so proud of us!
I know that with everything going on in the country and in the world, this work and space has kept me grounded, and I pray that it has done the same for you—not in a empty platitude or cliché way but in a very real and rich way.
I’ll be honest that I am not 1000% sure what the fall holds for Blessed Are Those Who Mourn, but I do have some new ideas that I want to implement in the future and a few conversations in motion that I am excited about. I won’t get into the details of those now, but in the meantime, I welcome you to leave feedback at the button below.

In the Meantime
If you’ve been keeping up and reading every drop, you will have noticed that at the bottom of every story there is a Song of the Week. This is a song that either the person(s) featured in the story listened to a lot during their season of suffering OR a song they believe represents their journey. I have compiled all these songs into a playlist to enjoy at our leisure over the break. Please find it for your listening pleasure below.
Over the next several weeks, please take time to care for yourselves. Please rest. Please play. Please disconnect from devices and connect with your loved ones. Please go outside. Enjoy the sun. Enjoy the summer. Be a kid again. My prayer is that we all come back refreshed, rejuvenated, and rested; that we all come back at peace with God, at peace with ourselves, and at peace with each other.
Lastly, if you have a story that is stirring within you, that you feel God calling you to tell, please take the next several weeks to pray over it and consider submitting your story at the submissions tab. Your story will always be told with the upmost integrity, empathy, authenticity and dignity. I think that’s all I got folks 🤎
Love + light,
Bria
